Neighbor Family Yells “Move” From The Garden, Smashes Cars, Sells Drugs From The Door, And Still Has Housing Ignoring Years Of Harassment Reports

In an alarming situation reminiscent of a nightmare that just won’t end, one homeowner has detailed nearly two decades of harassment from their adjacent neighbors, a family residing in social housing. The harassment has escalated over time, revealing a troubling pattern of intimidation, criminal activities, and a blatant disregard for their neighbors’ well-being. This ongoing saga raises serious concerns about community safety and the responsibilities of local housing authorities.

The homeowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been living next to this family for almost 20 years. Recently, their patience has worn thin. “For over a year now, they made it a habit to yell ‘move’ at me and even call out the name of my young relative whom I babysit,” they explained. This behavior has transformed what should be a peaceful home environment into a daily source of anxiety and distress. Despite multiple reports to Peabody Housing, the Metropolitan Police Service, and even local MPs, the family continues their campaign of intimidation.

Witnessing this behavior, one can only imagine the psychological toll it takes on the homeowner and their family. “It’s intimidating, and it ruins any sort of privacy I have with them,” the homeowner described. This is not just a minor inconvenience but rather a serious breach of the homeowner’s right to live in peace in their own home. In a particularly troubling incident, the family was involved in smashing a neighbor’s car, which resulted in one of their family members serving time in jail, further underlining the severity of the situation.

Reports have emerged that the neighbor family is involved in drug-related activities, notably selling cocaine from their front door. The homeowner has confirmed that they regularly witness drug use, including the unmistakable smell of marijuana emanating from the property. “They are involved in prostitution and there are issues with child endangerment and animal abuse,” the homeowner stated, reinforcing the disturbing reality of their immediate living conditions. Despite these serious allegations, local authorities have seemingly turned a blind eye, leaving the homeowner feeling helpless.

In an attempt to seek help, the homeowner reached out to Met Engage, only to be told there was nothing they could do about the yelling. Peabody Housing’s lack of response further adds to the frustration. “They are not even responding to me anymore, or at least not in a timely manner,” the homeowner lamented. This lack of effective response from local authorities raises questions about the support systems in place for residents facing similar challenges.

The harassment intensified to the point that the homeowner felt unsafe in their own garden. “If I happen to have my window open and I’m talking, they immediately start yelling ‘move,’” they shared. The family often claims to be calling for their dogs, but the reality feels more like a targeted attack on the homeowner’s peace of mind. On one occasion, when the homeowner ventured into their own backyard to water some plants, the neighbor family screamed at them to “move,” showcasing just how invasive their actions have become.

In the beginning, this once-quiet residence transformed into what the homeowner describes as an “active drug house,” with long lines of teenagers forming at the front. Today, the scene has changed slightly, but drug users still frequent the property. “Now, it’s just the odd crackhead that shuffles to their front and leaves within minutes,” the homeowner commented, drawing a stark picture of the ongoing issues plaguing their neighborhood.

Underlying all of this may be a more insidious issue. The homeowner, of Palestinian descent, suspects a racial element to the harassment, noting, “I do believe there is an element of racism.” This is a deeply troubling aspect of an already distressing situation, highlighting how prejudices can manifest in neighborhood dynamics, further complicating struggles with harassment. With mental health issues exacerbated by the ongoing situation, the homeowner has sought help from adult social services, illustrating the extensive impact this harassment has taken on their life.

As this troubling saga continues, one has to wonder about the responsibilities of housing authorities and law enforcement in ensuring a safe and peaceful living environment for all residents. With many feeling left to fend for themselves in the face of ongoing harassment, serious questions arise about how communities can better support those facing similar adversities.
