Young Renters Say Their Upstairs Neighbor Has Been Linked To Police Visits, Missing Property, And Possible Drug Activity

In a situation that seems to be straight out of a thriller movie, a couple of young renters are going through an unnerving experience with their upstairs neighbor. They have reported multiple police visits, strange disappearances of their personal belongings, and even potential drug-related activities linked to their upstairs tenant, leaving them feeling unsettled in their own home.

The renters, who have chosen to remain anonymous, shared their story on Reddit’s BadNeighbor community, detailing a series of incidents that have left them feeling vulnerable and anxious. Living in a relatively tame neighborhood, they initially thought they would enjoy a peaceful renting experience. However, their reality has been starkly different, primarily due to the antics of their upstairs neighbor, referred to in their posts as “Upstairs.”

The troubles began when the couple experienced loud disturbances during the early morning hours. During the week, loud noises emanated from Upstairs around 4 AM, prompting them to address the issue directly with their neighbor. Their polite requests for quiet were met with hostility and foul language, setting the tone for an escalating conflict.

Things took a turn for the worse when the couple began to notice strange behavior from Upstairs. According to their account, they overheard police officers discussing a home burglary incident involving an almost-adult son of their upstairs neighbor. This revelation raised alarms, as it indicated that more troubling activities might be occurring in their building.

The young renters also reported incidents of vandalism, including silverware and broken plates being propped under their vehicle tires. Adding to their distress, they discovered that some parts from their cars, like a hubcap and gas cap, had gone missing. Although they had video evidence of these acts, they hesitated to call law enforcement again, fearing that it might escalate the tension between them and their neighbor. Nevertheless, their landlords encouraged them to report the incidents, concerned about the troubling behavior they had been observing.

Adding to the suspicion surrounding Upstairs was the odd pattern of visitors that the couple noticed. They reported seeing their neighbor meeting strangers near his vehicle, where brief exchanges occurred. This behavior raised eyebrows, especially when the landlords expressed their own concerns, suggesting that it might be drug-related. The question lingered in the air: was there more to Upstairs than met the eye?

As the situation continued to deteriorate, the young renters also described the less tangible effects of living in such a stressful environment. They expressed feeling intimidated and fearful, losing countless hours of sleep as they worried about what their upstairs neighbor might do next. They noted that this experience has been the most challenging of their lives, especially as they are first-time renters in their early twenties. They had hoped for a positive living experience but instead found themselves in an unsettling predicament.

In light of these incidents, the young couple feels more strongly than ever about the importance of community and support among renters. Their experience highlights the complexities of living in close quarters with neighbors, particularly when those neighbors exhibit concerning behavior. While they have taken steps to document their experiences, they still grapple with feelings of insecurity in their own home.

As they navigate this ongoing issue, the couple has also learned a great deal about their rights as tenants and the importance of having a supportive landlord. They hope that the reported issues will lead to positive changes in their living environment, especially as rumors of Upstairs’ eviction circulate. No one wants to feel unsafe in their home, and these young renters are no exception.

While their story is unique, it resonates with many who have endured difficult living situations with problematic neighbors. As they await a resolution, they remain hopeful for a calmer future in their home, one where they can unwind and enjoy their space without fear.
