Realtor Shares a Clip of a Man Fighting a Glass Shower Door Wedged Beside a Toilet in a Pretty Renovation and Asks What Else the Builder Is Hiding From Buyers

A 20 second Instagram reel shared by the Drummond Team account @patdrummond_your_realtor_ is built around one awkward piece of bathroom design. A man stands in a tiled bathroom with a brass framed glass shower door beside him and a toilet jammed right up against the enclosure. Over the whole clip runs a single line of on screen text: “What else is the builder hiding?”

He grabs the brass handle and works the door while laughing. He has to stand astride the toilet bowl to reach it, one foot on each side, and the door moves only a short way before he is pushing at the glass again from different angles. Near the end of the clip he throws both arms up over his head as the camera shows the full shower, with a rain style shower head overhead and a freestanding tub at the edge of the frame.

The caption credits the clip to another realtor’s account. The post’s own words are the lesson: “This is why we walk every room, open every door, and test every drawer. A pretty renovation and a well planned one aren’t always the same thing.” The reel does not say where the house is, who built it, or whether it was for sale.

The caption gives two specific things to verify before making an offer. First, that the Realtor should be checking with city hall that all the permits were taken out and finalized. Second, that the property disclosure form matches what the buyer is seeing.

For a buyer, the clip suggests a routine for any showing of a recently renovated house. Open and close every shower door and cabinet. Stand where a person would stand at the toilet and see whether the door, the vanity and the walls leave enough room. Compare what you see against the disclosure form line by line, and ask for the permit history of anything that looks new.

For a renovator, the step is to mark the swing of every door and drawer on the floor plan before tile goes down, so a glass door that swings into a fixture is caught on paper.
