Marvel Star Chris Evans Just Sold His Hollywood Hills Home at a $1.6 Million Loss So He Could Finally Move Closer to His Family on the East Coast

Chris Evans has closed the sale on his longtime Hollywood Hills home, and the final number underscores how much he wanted out. According to RealityTea, the actor sold the property for $5.38 million on September 1, 2026, roughly $1.6 million below the $6.99 million he originally asked when he first listed it in May 2025. He bought the house back in 2013 for $3.52 million, according to Fox Business, so the sale still nets him a real gain on paper.

The house itself, tucked behind hedges and a stone-pillared gate on a private dead-end street, was never an obviously hard sell. Fox Business reported the 4,599-square-foot property carries four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a pool, multiple fire pits, and sweeping views of Laurel Canyon. Evans first listed it at $6.99 million in May 2025, pulled it, then relisted in June 2025 at $6.39 million. TMZ reported the seller had to slash the price again at the eleventh hour to finally close the deal, according to TMZ.

What makes the sale notable isn’t the math. It’s the motive. Evans spent more than a decade in the house, long enough that it predates his Marvel fame having any real financial heft behind it. He married Portuguese actress Alba Baptista in a private ceremony on Cape Cod in September 2023, and the couple has since split their time increasingly toward the East Coast. Selling a paid-off, appreciating Hollywood Hills property at a discount specifically to speed up a move is not the behavior of someone chasing top dollar.

That is a distinctly unglamorous problem for a movie star to have, and it’s one plenty of ordinary home sellers will recognize: the tension between waiting for your number and just getting the deal done. Real estate agents call that a motivated seller. In this case the motivation wasn’t financial distress. It was geography and family, playing out in the most mundane possible venue: a county recorder’s office rather than a red carpet.

The listing was handled by Scott Moore of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California. Whoever bought the house inherits a 60-inch Wolf range, Bianca marble counters, and a separate guest house with its own kitchen and gym. His camp has not put out any statement detailing the decision, and the coverage around the sale has relied entirely on the public listing and transaction record rather than anything Evans has said himself.

It also complicates the easy “celebrity takes a bath” framing that tends to attach itself to any sale below the original ask. Evans didn’t lose money on the house in any real sense; he still walked away with roughly $1.86 million more than he paid. What he sacrificed was upside, not principal. For a working actor with a young family and a cross-country move already underway, closing the gap between ask and offer was apparently a price worth paying to stop waiting.
