A Brokerage That Never Stopped Growing
Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson built their HGTV following on “Married to Real Estate,” the design-and-deal-hunting series that ran for four seasons after its 2022 premiere. Sherrod has been a licensed agent since 2002 and runs Indigo Road Realty, the Atlanta brokerage where she serves as CEO and managing broker. Jackson, a contractor she met on a renovation project in 2004 before marrying him in 2010, became her on-air partner. HGTV canceled the series in 2025 as part of a wider programming shakeup at the network.
Two Shows, Two Very Different Formats
The answer arrived this year in the form of two new projects. The couple announced “Home Abroad With Egypt and Mike” and “Deserving Design” as their next chapter. “Home Abroad” sends the duo outside the United States entirely, with confirmed destinations including Vietnam, Spain, Panama and Oaxaca, Mexico. “Deserving Design,” the second show, is still in production, focused on using design work for people who need it most. Neither show has a confirmed network or premiere date yet.
A Business Built Wider Than One Show
What makes the pivot easier to believe is that Sherrod and Jackson were never just a television act. Indigo Road Realty is expanding beyond metro Atlanta into Dallas, Houston and Orlando, a real estate business that runs independent of whatever HGTV decides to air.
Why This Case Is Different From a Typical Cancellation
Sherrod and Jackson had already built the infrastructure to survive a cancellation before it happened: a working brokerage, a design studio, a furnishings line and nearly a decade and a half of on-camera credibility. Whether “Home Abroad” and “Deserving Design” land on HGTV, a streaming platform, or somewhere else entirely, the couple has already answered the harder question a cancellation usually raises. They didn’t need a network to tell them what came next.
