Warehouse Worker Got Into a Power Struggle Over One Woman’s “Chair,” So He Moved It 500 Meters Away and Let Her Waste 40 Minutes Hunting for It

In today’s fast-paced workplace, conflicts can arise over the most mundane items, such as an office chair. However, in a recent tale of workplace drama shared on Reddit, a warehouse worker found himself in a small-scale power struggle over a chair that one colleague insisted was hers. What began as a light-hearted banter over seat ownership escalated into a petty revenge saga that will leave readers chuckling.

Meet the protagonist of our story, an unnamed warehouse worker who has a particular disdain for a long-tenured colleague, referred to as Caren. Caren, who seems to believe that her lengthy tenure at the company grants her some sort of ownership over communal items, is particularly protective of her favorite chair. As with most workplaces, especially in warehouses, chairs are not always assigned, and their placement can vary depending on shifts.

Our warehouse worker’s story begins on an early morning when he arrived a full 50 minutes before his shift. Taking advantage of this quiet time, he decided to enjoy a pastry while sitting in Caren’s cherished chair, which just happened to be in his work area that day. Before long, Caren arrived to reclaim her throne, leading to a back-and-forth argument over the chair that had him flustered. Even though he offered to bring the chair back to her once he finished, Caren insisted on having it immediately. Frustrated by her persistence, he begrudgingly allowed her to place her coat on it while he anticipated the end of his pastry break.

Though Caren placed her coat on the chair, the experience left our warehouse worker fuming. Rather than move the chair back to her as promised, he decided to take a small act of revenge. After the shift ended and the day turned to evening, he schemed on how to teach her a lesson about chair ownership. The following day, he came in even earlier, his mind set on moving Caren’s chair to the most inconvenient location possible.

With a surprising level of determination, he lifted the chair into the lift and transported it to the second floor, a full 500 meters away from its usual spot. After deftly maneuvering through the warehouse, he plopped the chair in the furthest corner, ready for an unsuspecting colleague to find it. As he settled into a different chair, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

Eventually, Caren arrived for her shift, oblivious to the chair’s new residence. Once she began her search, he watched with curiosity as she checked her usual spots, even glancing into nearby stairwells. A mix of amusement and satisfaction washed over him as he saw her squirming in discomfort over the seemingly vanished chair, ultimately forcing her to settle for less-than-ideal seating for the day. The lighthearted revenge had worked, and his small triumph felt justified.

The story ends on a cliffhanger of sorts. Although Caren may have suspected foul play, with no concrete evidence to pin the blame, the warehouse worker plans to enjoy this small victory as long as possible. Rumors have floated around that the chair might even stay in its new location for a while longer, adding a layer of ongoing tension to his interactions with Caren.

This entertaining scenario highlights just how even the smallest grievances can lead to amusing stories in workplace environments. While these petty rivalries are often best left in the shadows, they undeniably make for some entertaining narratives in the world of adulting. In this case, a chair became not just a seat but a symbol of dominance and served as the backdrop for a playful duel of wits between two colleagues.
