Woman Says Her Neighbor Across the Street Ignores Her Every Day, Only Warms Up to Her Husband and Then Made a Cutting Remark About Her Weight

Most neighbor problems are about noise, parking or property lines. TikTok creator Blair, who posts as @sarcasticallyanxious, is dealing with something harder to pin down. Her caption asks the question directly: “Why doesn’t my neighbor like me.”

Cold Shoulder Across the Street

Blair says the neighbor who lives across the street “has been really weird” toward her. When Blair waves, the neighbor does not wave back. When Blair calls out a friendly hello across the street, there is no response. And because it mostly happens when Blair is alone, not everyone in her family has seen it for themselves.

Her husband gets a completely different neighbor. Blair says the woman adores him. “So she loves my husband,” she says, before adding with a laugh, “Everyone loves my husband. He’s so nice.” She describes him as friendly and always willing to help, which may explain part of it, but not the chill she gets.

The Bike Comment

Then came the moment that pushed Blair to post. She was out riding her son’s bike when the neighbor mistook her for her son. The neighbor followed that mix up with a remark about Blair’s weight, saying she felt bad for the bike’s tires while Blair was riding it.

Even so, Blair tries to stay fair in the video. She acknowledges that “there’s reasonable explanations, not just her not liking me,” and she does not jump to conclusions about what is going on.

Commenters Had One Theory

Viewers were quick to read between the lines. “You answered your question when you said, ‘she loves my husband,’” one wrote. Another asked, “Does she have a crush on your hubby?” Others guessed jealousy, with one writing, “Seems like she likes your husband and is jealous of your life,” and another suggesting the comments were meant to make Blair feel self conscious.

Not everyone went there. “Unfortunately, sometimes people are just bitter and grumpy,” one commenter wrote. Another pointed out the obvious: “We can guess what her intentions are until the cows come home.”

Blair addressed the theories in a follow up video. She said she does not think the neighbor has feelings for her husband, and that the neighbor is not dealing with dementia or a similar condition that might explain the behavior. She also said she has not seen much of the neighbor since the first video went up, so for now the mystery remains unsolved.

How to Handle a Neighbor Who Seems to Dislike You

You will likely share a street with this person for years, so the goal is peace, not winning.

  • Keep being polite, then stop chasing it. A wave and a hello are enough. You do not need to keep trying to win someone over.
  • Do not take one comment as the whole story. People say awkward, unkind things for all kinds of reasons that have nothing to do with you.
  • Address hurtful remarks calmly if they continue. A simple “That comment hurt my feelings” is often enough to stop it.
  • Keep your partner in the loop. If one of you is treated warmly and the other coldly, talking about it openly avoids misunderstandings at home.
  • Avoid gossip with other neighbors. It tends to spread fast and make a small problem bigger.
  • Document anything that escalates. If rudeness turns into harassment or property issues, notes and dates will help with an HOA, landlord or local authorities.

Blair’s video struck a chord because so many people have a neighbor who seems friendly to everyone but them. Sometimes there is a reason, and sometimes there simply is not.
