University Admin Lies To Bully Students Into Switching Classes, But The Lecturer She Needs Blocks The Transfer And Leaves Her Power Trip Dead

In a tale of administrative overreach crashing against student resilience, an incident at a university has sparked intrigue. What started as a simple class registration mix-up turned into a power struggle between a group of determined students and an obstinate university administrator, ultimately leading to a standoff that defied expectations.

For students majoring in Mass Communication, navigating mandatory classes is part of their university experience. Just weeks before classes commenced, a group of friends locked in their schedules. They deliberately chose a 6-8 PM class in the Management faculty, finding it more compatible with their part-time jobs and travel constraints. Little did they know, this choice would soon invite unwelcome complications.

By Week 4, an email from their lecturer, Mrs. N, hit their inbox like an unexpected pop quiz. “You can’t be in my class,” it warned, notifying them that they were required to switch back to their own faculty’s section. Puzzled and frustrated, the students embarked on a wild goose chase through the administrative maze, first visiting the division managing mandatory subjects and then attempting to reason with the curt Mass Communication faculty admin officer.

This officer, described as “rude and condescending,” proved less than helpful. Instead of offering guidance or clarity, she repeatedly interrupted the students and dismissed their concerns, insisting they could not remain in the Management class. “Why would you choose another faculty’s class?” she asked, with a tone that suggested she had already made up her mind about their alleged insubordination.

Determined not to be bullied, one of the students calmly asserted her right to an explanation. “Ma’am, you’ve asked us several questions without letting us answer,” she stated, finally breaking through the torrent of interruptions. When the officer barked about the impact on end-of-semester reporting, the student responded, “I thought university was supposed to accommodate students from different circumstances. I work part-time, for example.” This pushback led the officer to soften her tone, but only slightly. “Fine! Email your lecturer and see if she agrees to let you stay,” she said, adding a thinly veiled threat to follow through with the switch if the lecturer didn’t agree.

Following the guidance of the officer, the students reached out to Mrs. N and CC’d the bewildered admin officer on their email. Mrs. N’s reply was clear: she had no objections to them remaining in her class. However, the admin officer, despite her previous assurance, flipped her position and insisted that the students still had to switch back.

Frustrated but not defeated, one of the students decided to seek out the Mass Comm lecturer, Ms. Z, with whom she had built a supportive rapport. “I might be joining your Friday class,” she messaged Ms. Z, only to find that Ms. Z had assumed they were staying in the Management class. After unraveling the situation for her, Ms. Z expressed shock at the admin’s actions. She revealed that the university’s grading system combined results across divisions, meaning the switch wouldn’t impact reporting at all.

Better yet, Ms. Z was resolute in her refusal to accept any new students into her class. Among the reasons for this refusal was that a handful of students had attempted to switch into Mrs. N’s class after the deadline, a clear violation of university policy. “I don’t want additional students,” Ms. Z told the students, adding that they had a valid reason to stay put given their late-semester timeline.

The students left victorious, their resolve having turned the situation back in their favor. The admin officer’s power play had unraveled spectacularly, revealing not only her dishonesty but also her inability to intimidate determined students willing to fight for their right to an education that fits their lives.

In the aftermath, many readers were struck by the sheer absurdity of the situation. Some were appalled by the admin officer’s behavior, while others applauded the students for their persistence and resourcefulness. The dramatic reversal resonated with those who have faced bureaucratic hurdles themselves and felt invigorated by the students’ unexpected triumph over an authority figure determined to maintain control.

Ultimately, this saga leaves a lingering tension regarding the treatment of students by university administration. With the semester calendar marching on, the potential for additional confrontations in academic settings remains ever-present, while the students can now focus on their assignments without the looming threat of administrative chaos.
